Forbidden: Omega Wave (2010)
Album Review by Joseph Pipan
Bay-Area Thrash metal band Forbidden is back again. Omega Wave is the first full-length album that the band has released since their Green album in 1997. Their earlier studio albums were Forbidden Evil (1988), Twisted into Form (1990), Point of No Return (1992), and Distortion (1994). The band was originally formed by drummer Jason Pittman and Guitarist Robb Flynn (later of Machine Head). The latest lineup attempts to make Omega Wave a return to the thrashing form that made the band famous in the 90s. The track list is as follows:
  1. Alpha Century
  2. Forsaken at the Gates
  3. Overthrow
  4. Adapt or Die
  5. Swine
  6. Chatter
  7. Dragging My Casket
  8. Hopenosis
  9. Immortal Wounds
  10. Behind the Mask
  11. Inhuman Race
  12. Omega Wave
Omega Wave is a pure thrash offering, and it does not disappoint. The album brings back memories of thrash metal’s golden age. And now, in a time where musicians must “Adapt or Die,” Forbidden has adapted their sound while staying true to their roots in Bay-area thrash. It’s time to ride the Omega Wave.
